A recent development by hardware manufacturers Qualcomm (phones) and Impinj (RFID readers) has produced a new RFID chipset for mobile phones. This exciting breakthrough means your next new phone could have built-in RFID reader capabilities, eliminating the need to buy a standalone reader for shortrange RFID scans.
This new chipset leverages RAIN RFID, an industry standard using passive RFID tags that are battery-less and are the least expensive tag technology to produce.
